What Can Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Treat?
Acupuncture provides the guidance your body needs in order to heal and repair itself. Our bodies are very capable of healing, given the proper nutrients and guidance. Acupuncture provides the guidance while herbal supplements and diet provide the nutrients.
Most people only know acupuncture for pain, but you can use it for most things you would go to your regular doctor for.
Acupuncture can help by improving basic life functions: circulating blood, calming the nervous system, improving sleep and the digestive process, reducing stress. If our bodies are operating at peak potential we shouldn’t be sick, we shouldn’t be in pain, and we shouldn’t be agitated, tense and cranky. Sounds good, right?
Acupuncture and the placebo effect: Every now and then I come across someone who declares they “don’t believe in acupuncture.” And that's great - it's important for our health and well being to ask questions, to remain a bit skeptical about certain claims. To those people I'll gently point out that canine acupuncture has been repeatedly proven effective and none of the dogs claim they believe in it either. Fortunately for them, acupuncture doesn’t require a person’s (or puppy’s) belief.
